My Punishment

I ate a piece of cheesecake last night. I cut my piece pretty small. But I am being punished. I woke up around 12:30am and my eye hurt pretty badly. I was lazy and didn't take off my eye makeup before bed so I figured one of my brittle mascara eye lashes was poking me in the eye. I get up, wash my face, and as I am patting my face dry I look in the mirror.
That's when I see it. A bright red, puffy, gooey eye. I am only assuming it's Pink eye. Feels like a piece of sand is in my eye and it burns and stings. I grimace at my reflection. I don't have Health insurance and I really don't want to spend my entire day at the Free Clinic. But, I do have a 10 month old infant and His health means more to me than anything so I am willing to sit my rear in the waiting room of the clinic to get antibiotic drops so this doesn't spread to him.
My immediate thought was:

"Oh Crap! I was rubbing my face all over his belly and kissing him all over on his face as we were laying in bed!"

I struggled with my Mommy moment of wanting to wake him up and give him a bath. I, of course, didn't because every Mom (And even thoughs who are always around kids) know how cranky babies can be when you wake them up mid-hibernation. Or is that bears?
At any rate, I didn't want to do that to my little guy so I found sanitizing whipes and gently washed his little hands and tummy.
I fell asleep and woke up just about 20 minutes ago (It's 4:30 in the AM, Mind you) and I couldn't even open my eye.

Gosh, it was only one piece of Cheesecake.

8 Thoughts & Reactions:

  1. Oh, no!!!!

    Damn that cheesecake.

  2. If we got pink eye every time we ate something we shouldn't, we'd be waiting weeks to get those antibiotic eye drops. Hope your eye clears up soon, I know that it's pretty uncomfortable.

  3. Do you use homeopathy? They have good remedies for pink-eye, and might be worth a try if you can get them locally!

  4. If you think this way about eating something that isn't necessarily healthy, you're probably going to end up binging.

I've learned that it's better to have something like cheesecake in moderation when you really want it than to cut it out altogether. The craving won't go away and you'll end up eating way more than you would have to begin with.

Anyway, I hope your eye gets better and your baby doesn't catch it!

  8. Be glad that you ate your cake before your eye turned on you. That should help soothe the pain... ;o)
