The fight to be Perfect

Someone I am friends with posted this on her wall on Facebook. I looked at the photo and didn't recognize the woman on the cover until I saw the name. This is Heidi Montag.

Now, I must admit I watched "The Hills" and noticed when she had her nose and lips done. I couldn't believe she wanted to alter her appearance because she is absolutely beautiful.
I want to be thin. I want people to see me as beautiful. But honestly, Plastic surgery hasn't even been something to think about. She doesn't even look like herself.
Why is it that people want so badly to be perfect they are willing to change everything about themselves?
I feel sorry for people who hate the way they look so much they go to such extreme measures.
What kind of message does this send to woman and young girls? A bad one. This literally sickens me. She doesn't even look good anymore.

What do you think of Heidi's Plastic Surgery transformation?

12 Thoughts & Reactions:

  1. I find it sad that people are so dissatisfied with their appearance that they feel the need to alter themselves surgically. Surgery is no joke and I would not elect to have it.

  2. She was pretty before. I don't get the need for all the changes.

I can't remember if I told you congrats on your top blog or not- congrats!

  3. I don't even know why she's famous in the first place. Don't know much about her, jsut that they mention her a lot. POor thing, though.

  4. Its awful! The surgeon is completely irresponsible, to do 10 procedures on someone so young, seriously??

  5. She most certainly doesn't look a thing like she used to. How strange would that be for her family? She reminds me of those "after" women on that old "reality" show "The Swan."

Plus I can't stand her anyway.

  6. It's horrible. I can't believe how much she has altered her look. It's crazy! She looks totally different, and I can't believe she has DDD breasts and want them bigger. HORRIBLE>

  7. That's just sad. She's only 23 and already she's had that much work done? I'm almost 34, I have a sharpei puppy look going on with my tummy, and I'm pretty sure without a bra my 'girls' resemble empty tube socks. But The Husband thinks I'm beautiful, and I know God does, so that's all that really matters to me. It would be great if more women her age could start off earlier being content with what they have.

  8. I think this poor girl has issues that go much deeper than really what she looks like, and I hope that someone helps her actually get the help she needs. But her first step to that is ditching that loser of a husband because he is probably one of the reasons she feels the need to get so much "work" done.
She was pretty before it all..

  9. I would nearly sell my eyes to fit into a normal sized pair of jeans ... (okay ... maybe not my eyes ... which organ weighs the most and takes up the most space??)

I can't imagine altering a body as lovely as hers was. That's sick ... and wrong ... and should be considered a breach of her contract ... alas it will not, and the media's damaging march presses on.

  10. It is very unfortunate that in the place where she lives, that this is a common occurrence for many young women. We are bombarded every day with unattainable images and I work very hard not to criticize myself in front of my daughter. I tell her every day that she is my beautiful princess.

  11. She was okay before. She's still okay. But WAY different. She doesn't look the same at all.

  12. I am near 300 lbs (still after 35 lbs weight loss) and surgery has NEVER been an option for me. I would not want to alter the way I look because I think aside from all the fat I have I am effing gorgeous. I don't know why anyone would ever want to look like someone else. I think it is dumb and people who do it have extreme issues with their self esteem. I wouldn't even want to have it for weight loss (and it has been offered by my doctor because apparently I am fat enough that insurance would pay for it) because I figure if I don't have the willpower to do it on my own, I won't stick to it anyway and it will all be for nothing. Just my 2 cents... take it or leave it :).
